As every year, our R&D activity in 2018/2019 achieved very important results.
Thanks to the excellent commitment of FGL staff, the newly developed color card VALASOLID, has been added to the line of dyes in the FGL International catalogue, together with Valanil, Valalux and Valasoft.
The Valasolid line is the result of a long study carried out on a selection of hundreds of dyes with the main purpose of developing a complete range of metal-free and, at the same time, solid to PVC migration dyestuffs. Furthermore, the dyes comply with the regulatory requirements and with the ZDHC platform.
These new dyestuffs offer a very efficient tool for dyeing metal-free or vegetable tanned leathers in a simple and safe way because of their minor impact on the environment.
Moreover, in collaboration with the National Research Center, FGL International has studied and is implementing a new tanning agent based on waste products from the food industry, and for this very innovative and eco-friendly new product FGL International has also applied for a patent. With this study, “using the resources available in cascade systems where the waste of a product becomes the input to create a new cash flow” - the so-called Blue Economy - it is possible to help solving environmental problems related to the food and to the tanning industry simultaneously.
