FGL International announces acquisition of the finishing branch of RE.PI.CO.
The chemical tanning company belonging to Lapi Group SpA expands its product range acquiring the finishing department of RE.PI.CO. SpA
FGL International SpA, a leading company in the chemical tanning sector and part of the holding company Lapi Group SpA, announces the acquisition of the Finishing arm of RE.PI.CO. SpA, a historic company active in the tanning chemistry sector since 1948, belonging to the Annunziata family.
According to its business objectives, RE.PI.CO. has therefore chosen to focus on the product range for the wet-end phase.
This strategic operation therefore strengthens FGL International's position in the tanning chemistry market, expanding its range of products and services dedicated to the sector. The finishing department of RE.PI.CO. will integrate as a new product line, maintaining commercial identification and customer portfolio, in the current range of FGL International.
In 2022, the company had already undertaken a similar integration, adding to its activities those of the Finikem company (also part of the Lapi Group), specialized in leather finishing products. The process of strengthening skills, innovative capabilities, and specializing solutions to serve the tannery continues.
“The main goal of this acquisition is to offer our customers even more comprehensive and innovative support, combining the know-how of both companies and enhancing the commercial offering – said Francesco Lapi, CEO of FGL International and president of Lapi Group -. RE.PI.CO. is a family business with a long history behind it. We both have over 70 years of experience in the leather processing industry. This operation will allow the implementation of new solutions, with a focus on innovation and sustainability, within an increasingly competitive market”.
At the same time, for RE.PI.CO., the sale of the Finishing branch is part of a clear industrial vision aimed at consolidating its position in the wet-end product range, an area in which it intends to concentrate investments, technological development, and commercial resources, further strengthening its competitiveness and specialization.
“The sale of the Finishing branch represents a fundamental step in our strategic evolution – stated Stefania Annunziata, CEO of RE.PI.CO. – We are convinced that this choice will allow us to focus by further strengthening our presence in the wet end, becoming even more agile and competitive, while ensuring the sold branch has the opportunity to grow under a highly specialized industrial leadership in the finishing sector.”
RE.PI.CO. will continue to produce and market its line of leather products for the tanning sector, with the line of auxiliary dyes for beaming and retanning, industrialized both at its headquarters and historic headquarters in Cinisello Balsamo (MI) and in its production department in Inveruno, in addition to the plants opened abroad in recent years.
The operation confirms the willingness of both companies to grow through targeted industrial choices, strengthening specialization, innovation and sustainability at the service of the tanning industry.
